You could be working at the very popular Shoprite chain on one of their internship programmes. They are working with the YES programme to give youth 12-month jobs and training in their stores.
Shoprite are recruiting for their Youth Employment Services (YES) on-the-job training programmes which run for 12 months. Once the YES internship is completed the learners are great candidates for full-time jobs at Shoprite or other retail leaders.
The Youth Employment Service is a programme that many businesses are involved in, with the support of the government, to help young people get training and work experience in a range of businesses.
Retail remains a large employer in South Africa and once someone has work experience on their CV from a leading employer like Shoprite they are much more likely to get employment in the retail sector.

The YES programme gives a job with 12-months of training in the workplace and it ensures that the youth on the scheme get experience in all areas of the company. When they have completed the programme YES learners are skilled to work for major retail chains – or even open their own business.
