What The Apprenticeship Involves
The Mechanical Apprentice will report to the Mechanical Supervisor and assist with planned and reactive maintenance on various mechanical assets and equipment across the V&A Waterfront precinct.
This includes working with:
- HVAC systems
- Bridges
- Pump stations
- Control panels
- Lifts and escalators
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
The apprentice will work closely with supervisors, service providers, suppliers and tenants to ensure maintenance issues are resolved efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will assist with:
- Conducting planned and preventative maintenance
- Responding to mechanical breakdowns and call-outs
- Monitoring mechanical systems through Building Management Systems
- Fault finding on mechanical plants and equipment
- Daily site inspections and quality control checks
- Identifying and reporting safety hazards
- Managing and supporting service providers
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Communicating maintenance updates with stakeholders and tenants
Additional Requirements
Candidates should be physically fit and willing to work in different environments, including sewer pump stations when required.
The role may also require overtime work, including weekends and public holidays, depending on operational needs and special projects.
