Afgri Labworld is inviting applications for two Laboratory Internship positions based in Isando. This internship gives students the chance to gain practical, hands-on experience in a commercial laboratory while learning directly from experienced professionals.
Successful candidates will be trained in a range of chemical methods, take part in chemical sample preparation and assist with maintaining systems related to chemical intake and storage. Interns will also support accreditation and safety processes, including the validation of laboratory methods.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12
• Currently studying towards a National Diploma or Degree in Chemistry (or equivalent) that includes Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
• No experience needed, although six months in a laboratory environment would be an advantage
• South African citizenship
• Must not be currently or previously enrolled in an internship or graduate programme
Key Responsibilities
• Preparing chemical solutions and standards
• Managing the intake of chemicals and consumables
• Maintaining the chemical management system
• Assisting with waste management processes
• Preparing chemical samples
• Validating and verifying glassware and pipettes
• Analysing samples according to SOPs
