Maintenance Manager – Letsitele
A leading fruit processor in South Africa, seeks to employ a Maintenance Manager at our Letsitele factory to monitor, control and direct the activities of the maintenance team and external contractors to ensure the smooth and efficient daily operation of all machinery and services for production. Purpose: To monitor, control and direct the activities of subordinates and external contractors to ensure the smooth and efficient daily operation of all machines and services for production. This involves implementing, assisting and carrying out: breakdowns, change-overs, preventative maintenance, safety requirements, product development initiatives and productivity savings initiatives
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all machines are maintained to the standards of the company, either by subordinates or outside contractors, according to the Company’s planned maintenance system.
- Record changes to planned maintenance system.
- Ensure that all breakdowns of machines are attended to within the shortest possible time.
- Ensure that all change-overs of machines are attended to within the shortest possible time.
- Plan and execute projects related to new product development and productivity savings initiatives within the agreed timetable.
- Ensure that electrical and mechanical safety standards and procedures are adhered to, and a safe work conditions exist.
- Report unsafe machinery, unsafe work practices
- Ensure that good housekeeping practices are kept in the workshop area and that job activities maintained and repaired are left in a neat and tidy condition.
- Be well-versed in Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety and Quality programs.
- Plan, select, develop and maintain suitable maintenance capabilities to achieve results.
- Provide technical direction.
- Ensure that the company complies with legal and statutory requirements pertaining to environmental protection, health, safety, and security.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- N3 – N6 National Certificate in Engineering
- Qualified Millwright Artisan
- 5 years’ experience hands-on as a Millwright in a food environment, of which at least 2 years’ experience in management/supervisory capacity
- Computer literacy (MS office, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects etc.)
- Valid driver’s license
- Fluent in English
- Knowledge of quality and food safety standards i.e., ISO 9001, HACCP and FSSC 22000
- Excellent people management skills
- Hands-on approach
- Leadership driven
- Good with figures
- Highly developed analytical skills
- Ability to motivate employees
- Understanding the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety Act is essential
- Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
