Allan Gray Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the 2026 Allan Gray Scholarship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current Grade 6 learner in the year of application
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 11 and 12 years old while in Grade 6
- Have been born in 2014 or 2015
- Demonstrate financial need
- Achieve a minimum average of 70% in both English and Mathematics

Allan Gray Scholarship Application Process
The scholarship selection process consists of several stages designed to identify learners with strong academic ability and future potential.
Step 1: Submit An Application
Applicants must complete and submit the scholarship application form together with all required supporting documents.
Step 2: Foundation Assessment
Shortlisted learners will be invited to write the Allan Gray Foundation assessment in December 2026.
The assessment will be conducted in:

Step 4: Placement School Interviews

Step 6: Final Agreement
Once the scholarship has been awarded, a Memorandum of Agreement will be signed between:
- The Allan Gray Foundation
- The placement school
- The learner’s custodian or guardian
