Telkom has opened applications for it’s 2026 Elevate graduate internship programme which is an exciting 2-year development programme for ambitious young people.

Telkom is inviting recent graduates to apply for its Elevate Graduate Internship Programme which is an exciting two-year development opportunity designed to help young professionals gain valuable work experience, mentorship, and exposure to the telecommunications industry.

The programme gives graduates the chance to rotate (where applicable) across different business areas, participate in professional skills training, and contribute to key strategic and operational projects that align with their field of study.

About the Elevate Graduate Internship Programme

The Elevate Programme is aimed at highly motivated, innovative, and agile graduates who are ready to apply their academic knowledge to real-world business challenges. Over the two-year internship, participants will receive continuous mentoring, performance feedback, and structured development designed to prepare them for successful careers in the digital era.

Telkom is seeking graduates from a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • Digital Transformation & Technology
  • Gaming & Creative Media
  • Sales, Marketing & Customer Insights
  • Finance & Business
  • Engineering & Technical Fields
  • Legal, Compliance & Governance
  • Science & Research
  • Social Sciences & Humanities

Key Responsibilities

Graduates selected for the Elevate Programme will gain hands-on experience through various responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting projects and day-to-day operations within business units.
  • Applying academic knowledge to solve real-world business and technical challenges.
  • Conducting research, data analysis, and preparing reports to support decision-making.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Participating in workshops, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and new business ideas.
  • Engaging in mentorship and feedback sessions to support growth and performance.

Core Competencies and Skills

Functional Knowledge:

  • Understanding of key concepts and theories related to your field of study.
  • Awareness of current industry trends and developments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other productivity tools.
  • Basic familiarity with data analysis or discipline-specific software.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, governance, and compliance.

Functional Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and platforms.
  • Time management and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and analyse data effectively.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Completed a 3-year degree (NQF Level 7) from a SAQA-recognised tertiary institution in South Africa.
  • Graduated within the last two years, or completing studies by December 2025.
  • Maintained an average of 60% or higher throughout studies.
  • No prior full-time work experience in the chosen field.
  • Relevant professional certification (if applicable) will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a South African citizen.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to work shifts or overtime when necessary.
