Umngeni-uThukela Water Learnership Programme 2025 – 2026 Now Open for Applications
Umngeni-uThukela Water is offering a one-year Learnership Programme for 2025 – 2026, aimed at equipping young people with the skills and knowledge required to work in the water services sector. This opportunity is ideal for motivated matriculants from deep rural areas in KwaZulu-Natal who have completed Mathematics and Physical Science in Grade 12.
The Learnership leads to a National Certificate in Water and Waste Water Treatment (NQF Level 2), combining theoretical training, practical experience, and a Portfolio of Evidence (POE). Successful applicants will be placed at water treatment plants in the North East Region, including facilities in Richards Bay and Jozini.
Minimum Requirements:
• South African citizen aged 35 or younger
• Completed Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science
• Must be currently unemployed
• Must reside in deep rural areas of uMkhanyakude District or uMzinto District Municipality
• Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply
• Applicants must not have completed any qualification at NQF Level 5 or higher

• Certified copy of Matric certificate or most recent school report
• Certified copy of South African ID
• Proof of residence (letter from Traditional Authority if applicable)
• Motivation letter explaining why you should be selected
• Affidavit confirming unemployment status
