The IEC is offering a 24-month internship opportunity to a passionate and driven graduate who is eager to contribute to the country’s democratic processes through behind-the-scenes operational support.
This internship is based at the IEC Gauteng Provincial Office and is designed to provide a structured and meaningful introduction to the fields of logistics, supply chain management, and procurement, with a specific focus on electoral operations.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to the inner workings of election logistics, from warehouse operations to supplier coordination and event preparation for by-elections.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with inbound and outbound logistics, procurement, inventory management, and distribution
- Tracking suppliers and managing delivery schedules
- Supporting logistical planning for by-elections
- Handling document management, minute-taking, reporting, and general admin
- Preparing presentations, performance reports, and maintaining filing systems
- Gaining exposure to electoral operations and financial administrative tasks
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must:
- Be 35 years of age or younger
- Not have participated in any previous internship or formal work in their field
- Hold a Matric (Grade 12 / N3 / NQF Level 4)
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in:
- Logistics
- Supply Chain Management
- Procurement
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new systems
- Good time management and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work well in a team with a proactive and positive attitude
