Takealot, in partnership with the Youth Employment Service (YES), is offering a 12-month learnership programme aimed at unemployed South African youth. This initiative provides participants with hands-on experience in digital marketing and e-commerce while supporting small businesses operating on the Takealot Marketplace.
About the Learnership
Job Title: Digital Marketing Learnership
Location: Various locations across Gauteng (mainly townships and urban centres)
Work Schedule: Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Stipend: R5,500 per month
Duration: 12 months (fixed-term contract)
Employer: SMMEs (not directly with Takealot)
What the Programme Offers
This learnership is designed to equip young people with relevant, in-demand skills while providing meaningful work experience. Learners will be placed with small businesses that sell on the Takealot Marketplace and will receive mentorship and support throughout the programme.
Programme Breakdown:
80%: Digital marketing and marketplace operations
20%: Exposure to general SMME business functions
Support: Regular guidance and monitoring from Takealot programme coordinators

Learner Responsibilities
- Provide professional customer service via phone and email
- Resolve customer queries efficiently and effectively
- Use software tools to find solutions to customer issues
- Collaborate with internal teams to address customer needs

Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate
- Proficiency in English
- Reside within 49km of the job location
- Clear criminal record
- Willingness to commit to a full-time 12-month learnership

- Aged between 18 and 25
- From historically disadvantaged backgrounds
