Macsteel Shipping Department Internship Programme (12 Months)
Macsteel is offering a 12-month intensive internship opportunity within its Shipping Department. This programme is designed to provide unemployed graduates with valuable hands-on workplace experience while developing practical skills in shipping administration, imports, exports and logistics.
The internship offers structured on-the-job training, allowing interns to apply their academic knowledge in a real business environment while gaining exposure to core logistics and supply chain operations.
About the Macsteel Internship Programme
Successful candidates will be placed within the Shipping Department for the full duration of the internship. Interns will support the team with day-to-day administrative duties and gain insight into shipping processes, customer documentation, and transport coordination.
Interns will receive a monthly stipend and will be expected to commit to the full 12-month training period.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
– National Diploma or Degree in a relevant field
– Strong ability to communicate in English (reading, writing and speaking)
– Between the ages of 20 and 28 years
– Available and committed to completing the full 12 months of practical training
– Selection is merit-based and only candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be considered

Candidates must submit an updated CV with the following supporting documents:
– Certified copy of ID
– Diploma or Degree certificate
– Proof of banking details (official letter from the bank)
– Proof of tax registration (SARS letter)
Duties and Responsibilities
During the internship, candidates will gain exposure to the following areas:
– General administrative duties within the Shipping Department
– Assisting with receiving and reviewing customer sales orders
– Preparing and processing customer documentation
– Ensuring delivery notes align with export documentation
– Updating and maintaining transport rate registers
– Assisting with tracking and monitoring shipments
– Reviewing sales orders against delivery notes and assisting with issuing credit notes
