MSC Learnership Programme Now Open for Applications
MSC is inviting motivated and unemployed South African youth to apply for its comprehensive Learnership Programme in the maritime industry. This opportunity allows participants to gain both theoretical knowledge and valuable practical experience while working towards nationally recognised qualifications.
About the Learnership
The MSC Learnership is structured into three consecutive phases, each running for 12 months at the same location:
- Phase 1: National Certificate in International Trade
- Phase 2: National Certificate in Freight Forwarding & Customs Compliance
- Phase 3: Further Education & Training Certificate in Shipping
All three phases must be completed in sequence. At the end of each phase, learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification along with hands-on training.
What MSC Offers
- Full cost of studies covered by MSC
- Monthly stipend (with annual increases)
- Annual bonus based on performance, attendance, and conduct
- R5,000 bonus for learners who achieve at least 80% in both theory and practical assessments after Phase 1
Minimum Requirements
- Completed Matric or equivalent qualification
- Minimum overall pass average of 60%
- At least 60% for Mathematical Literacy OR 50% for Mathematics
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Must be under the age of 25
- Ability to travel to and from MSC operating sites at own cost (using stipend provided)

- Previous work experience will be an advantage
