The Western Cape Government is offering an exciting opportunity for unemployed graduates to gain valuable work experience through its Graduate Internship Programme for 2025/2026. This youth development initiative is open to South African citizens residing in the Western Cape who are eager to develop their skills, improve their employability, and gain practical experience across various government departments for between 3 and 24 months.

About the Graduate Internship Programme
This programme provides successful applicants with on-the-job training for a period of 3 to 24 months, depending on departmental needs. Interns will be placed in relevant departments to gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of public service operations. The aim is to empower youth with practical skills, career exposure, and professional networks that can support long-term career development.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for the internship, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen currently residing in the Western Cape
- Be between the ages of 20 and 35
- Be currently unemployed
- Have completed one of the following qualifications:
- NQF Level 5: Certificate
- NQF Level 6: Diploma
- NQF Level 7: Bachelor’s Degree
- NQF Level 8 or higher: Postgraduate Qualification
