The Commercial Professional Driver (CPD) Academy was started help young people train to be professional truck drivers. As experts in the industry they ensure that their drivers are actually fully trained and safe drivers on the road – rather than simply passing their professional drivers permit.
CPD Academy is located in Holgatfontein, Gauteng and they offers the comprehensive Professional Truck Driver Learnership.
CPD Learnership Programme Overview
This 13-month Learnership combines theoretical instruction with practical, on-the-road training. It is designed to equip learners with the necessary skills and qualifications to operate heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently. Participants will learn to:
- Plan and prepare trucks for transportation
- Operate trucks with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) exceeding 3,500 kilograms
- Maintain operational documents and records
The programme is structured in phases, with learners beginning to earn a salary from Phase 2 (Month 3), potentially reaching a gross monthly income between R12,000 and R26,000 by the end of the programme.
CPD Academy also offer the Transport Clerk Learnership.
Learnership Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Grade 10 certificate
- At least 27 years old
- Proficiency in English and/or Afrikaans
- Valid Code 14 EC driver’s license with PrDP (They are currently accepting temporary PrdPs)
- Valid South African passport
- Clean criminal record
- Pass a psychometric assessment with a trainable outcome
- Attend an interview
- Pay a registration fee (contact CPD Academy for the current amount)
- Sign a training contract and complete an induction
