Implats Boilermaking Learnership 2026 Now Open For Applications
Impala Platinum Refineries (Implats) is inviting applications for its Engineering Learnership: Boilermaking Programme. This opportunity is aimed at aspiring artisans who want to gain practical training and workplace experience in the engineering sector.
The learnership programme will take place in Springs, Gauteng and is designed to help participants develop the skills and knowledge required to qualify as a Boilermaker Artisan.
Implats is a leading mining and refining company that focuses on transformation, skills development and developing future engineering talent.
Implats Boilermaking Learnership Programme
The Engineering Learnership Programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical workplace training. Successful applicants will receive structured on-the-job training in a real industrial environment while gaining valuable experience in the boilermaking trade.
This structured training programme will run for 42 months and is expected to begin in August 2026.
After completing the programme, learners will work towards obtaining a Boilermaker Trade Test Certificate under the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).
What You Will Learn
During the Implats Engineering Learnership Programme, learners will gain practical experience in several areas of boilermaking and engineering.
This includes exposure to:
- Structural steel fabrication and installation
- Maintenance and repair of plant equipment
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Working safely and efficiently in a production-driven mining and refinery environment
The programme also aims to provide a strong foundation for long-term career growth in the engineering and mining sectors.
Minimum Requirements
To apply for the Implats Boilermaking Learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A completed N2 Certificate or NCV Level 4 qualification in Boilermaking
- N2 subjects must include Mathematics, Engineering Science, Structural Steel Drawing and Plater Trade Theory
- A basic understanding of boilermaking trade principles
- Medical fitness to work at both BMR and PMR plants
