ABSA Fellowship Programme 2026 – Apply Now
The ABSA Fellowship Programme is more than just a scholarship. It is a transformative development initiative designed to foster leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation among young South Africans. Through this fellowship, ABSA aims to empower talented individuals to become changemakers in their communities and industries, while advancing financial inclusion and sustainability across the continent.
Each year, ABSA selects 50 outstanding applicants who demonstrate purpose, passion, and potential. Fellows are given the opportunity to grow into leaders in business, government, or entrepreneurship, equipped with the skills and mindset to make a meaningful impact and drive progress in Africa.
Who Can Apply?
ABSA is looking for ambitious young leaders who meet the following criteria:
- Age: Between 18 and 25 years old
- Academic Record: Minimum pass mark of 65% (Applicants may submit June 2025 preliminary results or final matric results)
- Field of Study: Must be enrolling as a first-year undergraduate student at a public university in South Africa in 2026 in one of the following fields:
- Commerce
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), including Health Sciences (excluding medical or veterinary studies)
- Creative Arts
- Digital/Data Design
- Application: Must be submitted in the name of the prospective student attending university, not a parent or guardian
Application Process
The selection process is carried out in four phases:
- Phase 1: Pre-screening – Applicants are assessed to confirm they meet minimum requirements
- Phase 2: Psychometric Assessment – Eligible applicants will receive a voucher code from Absafellowship@fundi.co.za to complete the assessment
- Phase 3: Shortlisting – Candidates are shortlisted based on assessment scores
- Phase 4: Interviews – Final interviews are conducted with shortlisted candidates
