SASSA is advertising for a wide range of internships that are open now. These opportunities provide workplace training and experience – and come with a monthly stipend payment.

SASSA Internship And Work Integrated Learning Programme 2026 Now Open

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is inviting unemployed youth to apply for the SASSA Internship and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme for 2026. This opportunity offers young South Africans the chance to gain valuable workplace experience in the public sector.

Applications are currently open and must be submitted before the closing date of 13 March 2026.

Successful candidates will be placed in East London in the Eastern Cape and will gain practical experience in various departments within the organisation.

SASSA Internship Programme 2026

The SASSA Internship Programme is aimed at graduates and TVET students who hold a Degree, B-Tech or National Diploma (NQF Level 6 or 7) in a relevant field.

Interns will sign a 24-month contract and receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.50.

  • Communications and Marketing (X1) – Public Relations, Communication, Media Studies, Multimedia Journalism. Reference: SAS 18/2026

SASSA Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme 2026

The Work Integrated Learning Programme is designed for students who have completed an N6 National Certificate and require workplace experience to complete their qualification.

The WIL programme runs for 18 months and offers a monthly stipend of R5 639.75.

Who Should Apply?

To qualify for the SASSA Internship or WIL Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Hold the relevant qualification for the selected post
  • Be willing to work in East London, Eastern Cape
  • Must not have previously participated in a similar internship programme
