The Western Cape Government is calling on unemployed South African graduates living in the province to apply for its Graduate Internship Programme for 2026–2027. This two-year youth development opportunity is designed to help young people gain practical workplace experience and improve their chances of finding long-term employment.
To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Be a South African citizen living in the Western Cape.
• Be between 18 and 35 years old.
• Have completed Grade 12 in the Western Cape.
• Hold a completed qualification such as:
– Certificate (NQF 5)
– Diploma (NQF 6)
– Degree (NQF 7)
– Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8 or higher)
Applicants must also have qualifications aligned to the programme’s focus areas, which include Sport Science, Communication or Journalism, Community Development, Finance and various Administration-related fields.
This internship is aimed at young people who are financially constrained and lack the support or networks needed to access career opportunities. Successful candidates will be placed in departments such as Agriculture, where they will receive structured on-the-job training.

Required skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in at least two official Western Cape languages.
• Computer literacy, including MS Office.

• Good planning and organisational skills.

Interns will receive a monthly stipend as determined by the Department.
