Prince Albert Municipality is offering an opportunity for qualified individuals to join its Fire and Disaster Management Services team as Learner Firefighters, within the Corporate and Community Services Directorate.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid Code B Driver’s Licence or Code C1
- CAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test)
- Physically and mentally fit
- Medical Test (NFPA 1582)
- No criminal record
- Willing to work shifts, overtime, and on short notice
- Willing to work at any fire station or section within the municipality’s jurisdiction
- Firefighting 1 with First Aid
- Proficient communication skills in at least two of the three Western Cape official languages

Duties & Responsibilities
- Drive and operate firefighting and emergency vehicles
- Respond to fire and rescue emergencies
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are clean and ready for use
- Compile reports as required
- Maintain records and perform administrative duties
- Assist with purchasing and material logistics
- Participate in training and physical development programmes
Remuneration
- Post Level: T06 (Category 1 Municipality)
- Salary Range: R155,086.20 – R201,319.92 per annum
- Benefits: Medical Aid, Pension Fund, Housing Allowance (as per policy), and 13th Cheque
